USAID to help mitigate energy crisis

The USAID Power Distribution Programme will provide assistance to the government in its efforts to reform the power sector to mitigate the current energy crisis.

The programme will help distribution companies to improve their performance through reduction in losses, increased revenues and enhanced customer services.

In this regard, stakeholders’ workshop for the development of National Electric Safety Code was held here on Wednesday in collaboration with Pakistan Engineering Council and USAID. The workshop was attended by experts from both the private and public sectors.

The five-year USAID Power Distribution Programme was announced by Hillary Clinton in 2009 as one of the US efforts to support Pakistan’s energy system.
