‘Uninterrupted power, gas supply vital to revive industry’

The Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) president Mian Zahid Aslam has said that complete restoration of power and gas supply to textile and industrial sectors is the only solution to improve economic condition of the country. Talking here on Saturday, the FCCI president said that 2012 proved a critical year for industrialists. He said that severe shortage of electricity and gas throughout the year had destroyed the textile and industrial sectors. He maintained that industrialists and workers were protesting against the power and gas shortage as the situation was alarming. He said that the industry and economy of the country were in worst condition due to energy crisis. He said that 80pc textile industry was located in Punjab while $10 billion were originated from Punjab where Faisalabad contributes $4 billion per annum. With the suffering of the industry in Punjab, the whole industrial sector of the country had been paralysed, he added.
