Solar energy to overcome crisis: ICCI

The government should provide incentives in the new federal budget to encourage the use of solar energy in the country, which is the best short-term solution to Pakistan’s growing energy crisis.

This was observed by Zafar Bakhtawari, president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), while presiding over a meeting of ICCI subcommittee on energy.

“According to estimates, Pakistan has a potential of generating more than 2.324 million megawatts electricity per annum through the solar system,” he said. “Therefore, the government should provide incentives to attract investment in solar technology.”
