Shahbaz vows to phase out energy crisis

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday said the PML-N led government would honour its promise to phase out the energy crisis in a minimum possible time.

Addressing a delegation of a solar energy system group at Chief Minister’s House today, Shahbaz Sharif said the country was facing a serious energy crisis which had badly affected it.

He slammed the former government for not taking any initiative to resolve the issue for vested interests. The PML-N government, he said, had chalked out a special plan to provide exclusive sources of energy particularly to farmers so that they might be able to run their tubewells on solar energy.

He said the government had earmarked huge funds for power projects and after the completion of the Nandipur power project, 200mw electricity would be added to the national grid.

The group’s representatives briefed the chief minister about their energy generation plan.

Provincial Energy Minister Ch Shair Ali Khan and Sectary Energy Usman Bajwa were also present.
