Punjab govt encouraging investment in the energy sector

Punjab Minister for Energy Sher Ali Khan on Thursday inaugurated the three-day Energy, Oil, Gas & Power Exhibition and Conference – EGO Pakistan 2013, where a large number of professionals as well as visitors were present, along with senior government officials and representatives from different business organisations.

The second edition of the three-day Energy, Oil, Gas & Power Exhibition and Conference – EGO Pakistan 2013 – kicked off at the Expo Centre with specific focus on unexplored energy potential in Pakistan and future prospects for regional development.

Besides local companies, representatives and delegates of major companies were attending the event.Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government was encouraging foreign investment in the energy sector. “We believe that nothing can be more important than solution to energy crisis,” he said.

At this crucial stage, Sher Ali described the EGO Pakistan-like events necessary for the provision of basic facilities to the public with better planning. “I am pleased to observe the local and international companies are participating with growing interests in renewable energy where Pakistan shares ideal resources for alternative power generation.” Organised by the FAKT Exhibitions, the EGO Pakistan will unite the leading global energy companies and energy capital under one roof, creating an unrivalled marketplace to establish strategic alliances.

Apart from the conventional sources of energy generation, the exhibition capitalizes on the non-conventional renewable energy sources like wind, solar, biomass and coal. Showing latest technologies in oil and gas exploration, energy conservation and alternate energy, the event was expected to bring huge foreign investment in energy sector.
