Moot brings unexplored energy under focus

The second edition of the three-day Energy, Oil, Gas & Power Exhibition and Conference – EGO Pakistan 2013 – kicked off on Thursday at the Expo Centre with specific focus on unexplored energy potential in Pakistan and future prospects for regional development.

Punjab Minister for Energy Sher Ali Khan inaugurated the exhibition where a large number of professionals as well as visitors were present along with senior government officials and representatives from different business organisations. Besides local companies, representatives and delegates of major companies from the US, UK, China, Canada, Japan, Iran, India, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, France and The Netherlands are attending the event.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government is encouraging foreign investment in the energy sector, the Minister said while speaking on the occasion: “We believe that nothing can be more important than solution to energy crisis.”

At this time when Pakistan is facing severe energy crisis, Sher Ali termed the EGO Pakistan necessary for the provision of basic facilities to the public with better planning. “I am pleased to observe the local and international companies are participating with growing interests in renewable energy where Pakistan shares ideal resources for alternative power generation,” Sher Ali said.

Apart from the conventional sources of energy generation, the exhibition capitalises on the non-conventional renewable energy sources like wind, solar, biomass and coal.
