Initiate solar, alternate energy projects, Altaf directs party

MQM chief Altaf Hussain has directed his party’s coordination committee to initiate solar and alternate energy projects on self-reliance basis instead of relying on the government, so that electricity and water could be provided to the people.

Addressing his party members via telephone, the leader said that it is crystal clear that apart of facing the menace of terrorism, energy crisis is yet another big challenge for the country. The people had been going through miserable times due to the constant loadshedding which is hampering economic growth, as thousands of industrial units have been shifted out of the country. He regretted there is no consensus on national policies regarding terrorism and energy crisis.

“We have two options left; first one is to rely on the government and do nothing or the second option is to help ourselves by initiating projects for alternate energy,” he argued. He said, “Almighty Allah has bestowed Pakistan with many natural resources and solar energy is one of them. If we make use of solar energy, the power crisis can be resolved.”

He also directed the MQM’s parliamentarians to pave a way for the legislation required to wave off duty on imports of machinery and other parts used in alternate energy projects.

Altaf urged the government to encourage and provide subsidies for such projects, so that maximum people could be benefited by generating sufficient solar energy.
