German support sought in energy sector

Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Senior Minister for Energy & Power Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao Wednesday sought German support and investment in energy sector in the province to cope with the energy crisis.

Talking to German Counselor in Pakistan Mandy Zeckra and Director German Development Bank Dr Anna Christine Janke here at Civil Secretariat, he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had enough potential to produce electricity through hydel, but it needed international support in this regard.

A handout said that Sikandar Sherpao informed the delegation that Pakistan was currently facing worst loadshedding and needed international investment and support in energy sector.

Secretary Energy and Power Khalid Gilani and Managing Director PHYDO Bahadar Shah, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah Shah briefed the delegation about energy generation potential in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
