Expert advocates cut in power costs

Former member WAPDA and energy expert Sardar Tariq has suggested that Pakistan can increase its exports by reducing cost of power generation.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that currently the share of renewable energy resources in electricity generation in Pakistan is about 29 percent while 71 percent electricity is generated from thermal power stations. He added that the tariff regime in Pakistan is greatly affected by increase in oil prices in the international market.
