Exhibition highlighting local energy potential starts

To explore more energy potential in Pakistan, the second edition of 3-day energy, gas, oil and power exhibition and conference titled ‘EGO Pakistan 2013’ started at the Expo Centre on Thursday.

Punjab Minister for Energy Ch Sher Ali Khan inaugurated the exhibition where a large number of professionals as well as visitors were present along with senior government officials and representatives from different business organisations.

Besides local companies, representatives and delegates of major companies from the US, UK, China, Canada, Japan, Iran, India, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, France and The Netherlands are attending the event.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab government was encouraging foreign investment in the energy sector, the minister said while speaking on the occasion. “We believe that nothing can be more important than solution to energy crisis,” he said. At this crucial stage, Sher Ali described the EGO Pakistan necessary for the provision of basic facilities to the public with better planning.

“I am pleased to observe the local and international companies are participating with growing interests in renewable energy where Pakistan shares ideal resources for alternative power generation,” Sher Ali said.

EGO Pakistan attracts energy experts from different parts of the world to discuss innovation, technology and investments, required to unleash the potential of energy industry, said FAKT CEO Saleem Khan Tanoli. “I am sure that this exhibition will give business a new dimension,” he said. During his visit to every stall, the provincial minister met representatives of different companies and energy sector experts and appreciated their efforts in this regard.

EGO Pakistan is supported and endorsed by the relevant institutions like Ministry of Water and Power, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Private Power Infrastructure Board, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade etc. In its first edition, the EGO Pakistan gauged splendid feedback and rare acknowledgement from the renowned associations and decision makers of the industry.a

The EGO Pakistan attracted numerous local and international trade visitors on its first day, as the three-day event will continue until Saturday (September 21, 2013) at the Expo Centre.
