Energy crisis

Pakistan faces an acute energy crisis. Currently our electricity generation capacity stands at almost 14500 megawatts whereas its demand has risen to 17500 MW. This means we are facing a shortfall of 3000 MW. The disparity in demand and supply is mainly because of electricity theft, poor transmission lines and a rapidly growing population. Moreover, the Musharraf and Zardari regimes neither build any dams nor made any plans to increase power generation.

The only way to overcome the energy crisis is to control electricity theft, repair transmission lines, expedite the construction of dams, complete the under-process hydel projects and use coal and other natural resources like wind for power generation.
