Ending energy crisis is priority: Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday told co-chairs of a UN initiative to promote energy for all that his government is striving to resolve the energy crisis facing the nation urgently and would also seek international cooperation towards that end.

Speaking at a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Danish International Development Minister Christian Bach, he said his government has assigned energy issue the highest priority. It was agreed at the meeting that the three countries would push for a goal on sustainable energy for all as part of the post-2015 development agenda.

Nawaz outlined the goals and targets his government had established at promoting sustainable energy in Pakistan. He highlighted that Pakistan National Framework was aimed at generating cheap energy, exploitation of renewable energy and sustainable energy potential, and a culture of energy conservation and responsibility. The three leaders agreed to continue their engagement with the sustainable energy for all initiative.
