China province to invest in energy

The Governor of Qinghai province of China, Hao Peng, along with several private companies representatives, will visit Pakistan to discuss investment in power sector of the country.

“Qinghai government shown keen interest in investment in different fields of power sector and would like to take on the power projects within Pakistan.” This was announced by Governor of Qinghai province of China, Hao Peng during a Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony held by the Department of Commerce and Bureau of Civil Administration CTCA Government of Qinghai, China. The award was given to Maj (r) Akhtar Nazir Khan Cooki, former chairman of Pakistan Capret Manufacturers and Exporters Association, for his efforts for the development of carpet industry globally. This is the second time that Cooki has been honored by the Chinese government in continuation to the honorary citizenship granted to him by the Mayor of Xining City, Qinghai Province. He is the only foreigner to have received these honors in China.

On this occasion, Akhtar Nazir Khan Cooki extended an invitation to the governor to visit Pakistan, who accepted the invitation. A special memorandum of understanding was also signed with regards to Halal Food Industry on this occasion.

He urged Chinese investors to invest in energy and infrastructure sectors of Pakistan. He said Pakistan wants to benefit from China’s development experiences particularly in energy sector. Cooki said Sino-Pak economic corridor would be the biggest development project between the two countries. He expressed satisfaction on the interest taken by Chinese investors in Pakistan’s development. He said it is also matter of satisfaction that China is taking keen interest in achieving the goals of economic development set by Pakistan. He held positive and constructive dialogue with Chinese investors and bankers hoping that these will lead to expedite economic activities in Pakistan. Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association former chairman attached great value to investment done by export and import bank of china in Pakistan. He stressed that export and import bank of china should provide capital to companies interested in investment in Pakistan.

Governor Hao Peng said that the infrastructure of power projects being processed in Pakistan could be pursued as a joint venture to help and strengthen mutual relationship with the aim to establish long term and stable partnership between both the governments.
