Bhasha Dam a ‘lifeline’ for national economy

The Diamir-Bhasha Dam project is a “lifeline” for the national economy, which will help meet the country’s future agricultural and power requirements. According to a Ministry of Water and Power official, the Diamer-Basha Dam, after completion, would help mitigate flood threats, generate sufficient power and store water. Moreover, the dam which is being built, on the Indus River would enhance the life of Tarbela Dam by over 35 years. The gigantic project would generate 4,500 MW electricity and store over 8 million acre feet of water.
