Vestas gets 50MW turbine for Pakistan

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order from the Turkish Zorlu Energy Group for 28 of Vestas’ V90-1.8 MW turbines for its 50MW wind power project in Nooriabad in the Jimphir region of Pakistan.

“The contract comprises supply of the wind turbines, supervision of the installation on site, commissioning as well as a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system and a two-year service and availability agreement,” says a statement issued by the Vestas.

The project is scheduled to start in the first half of 2012 and the wind power project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012, the statement reveals.

In 2006, the company had signed an agreement with the AEDB to build the first wind farm inPakistanfor 56.4MW capacity. The first phase of the wind power project comprising 6 MW has been in operation since 2009.

The wind power plant will have an estimated annual production of 159,000 MWh per year, which corresponds to the residential electricity consumption of as many as 350,000 persons inPakistan. Besides, the wind farm will save the environment from more than 90,000 tons of CO2 emissions on an annual basis.
