Street lights consume 30MW of electricity, says KESC

Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas on Monday advised the administrative secretaries to curtail unnecessary electricity consumption in their respective departments, offices, projects and police stations.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat. KESC representatives apprised the meeting that the street lights consumed 30MW of electricity in the city. The split is about 24MW in the KMC, 3MW in the cantonments and 3MW in the DHA.

The chief secretary stressed the need for efficiency in electricity consumption in government functionaries and in street lighting. “The authorities should rectify excessive use of energy by substituting neon bill boards and by checking unnecessary lights in the daytime.”
