Pakistan needs to exploit hydropower generation

Norwegian Ambassador to Pakistan Cecilie Landsverk on Friday said that Pakistan needs to exploit its 100,000 megawatts hydropower generation to overcome the energy crisis and expressed that his country’s investors are interested in Pakistan’s hydropower and onshore and offshore gas sector.

Talking to the vice president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Mirza Abdul Rehman, chairman coordination Atif Akram Sheikh and chairman media, FPCCI, Malik Sohail, she said, “There are great business possibilities here, but perception in the West about Pakistan is not improving for the last few years, which is blocking investment.”

Optimum utilisation of hydropower potential with the help of international community can tackle power shortfall on sustainable basis, she said.
