Local inventor introduces magnet that can save high energy costs

A local inventor has invented a highly efficient magnet, designed especially for electric motors, that can reduce high consumption of energy and reduce its costs, The News learnt on Monday.

According to Umer Farooq, an inventor and author of ‘Limitlessness’, the invention of the super efficient permanent magnet, if scientifically explored, can rid the entire world of high cost of energy.

Farooq claimed that the newly developed magnet and the device that measured its efficiency were ready to be examined.

He said this new type of magnetic interaction would be used in permanent magnet electric motors.

These motors will need at least 50 percent lesser inputs in comparison with existing electric motors.

On the other hand, he maintained, mechanical output of these motors will not be reduced and would be maintained at the same level.

For example, he said, if an existing electric motor uses 10 horsepower electric energy and its mechanical output is nine horsepower, electric motors comprise upon super efficient permanent magnet will need only five horsepower input of electricity, while the mechanical output of this motors will remain nine horsepower.

Modern economy is, in fact, an energy-based economy, he said, adding as super efficient permanent magnet provides unlimited huge amount of energy, the world economy will grow accordingly.

Talking about the newly developed magnet, Farooq said that the super efficient permanent magnet is a part of super efficient magnetic interaction.

“It provides far more repulsion force than ordinary permanent magnet,” he observed.

“In totality, that is why it provides more than 100 percent additional mechanical output force than that of the electromagnet,” he added.

Commenting on this invention, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Chairman of Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Engineering & Technology, KSK Campus expressed optimism about outcome of super efficient permanent magnate. However, he said more experiments were needed to fully explore this magnet.

Jehanzeb Saleem, chief executive of a local firm, said this improvement, if proved scientifically, would affect the motors that require permanent magnet, by reducing a significant amount of power required to run them.

The applications where permanent magnet motors are used include elevators, electrical scooters, air crafts, hobby crafts, textiles, CNC machines, industrial power tools, printers, etc.

If it is developed commercially, he observed, a great many applications would have a positive effect in terms of reducing the running cost to substantial level.

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has also extended full support for making the newly invented product a real success.

Malik Assadur Rehman, who has been assigned the task of exploiting potential of new invention on commercial basis, said he had met with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Irfan Qaiser Sheikh last week and shared with him technical aspects of this invention.

He said the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry president had assured him of full cooperation in highlighting the merits of the super efficient permanent magnet.

He said several other local and multinational companies had expressed keenness in the commercial manufacturing of the new invention.
