LCCI concerned over power outages

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has expressed concern over prolonged power outages and called for immediate withdrawal of power outage exemptions enjoyed by VIP grid stations, other than hospitals and sensitive installations.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI said that the government would not be able to control power outages unless and until the exemptions offered to VIP entities, other than hospitals and sensitive installations, are withdrawn.

The statement mentioned that the people sitting at the helm of affairs are unable to feel the gravity of the situation as they are enjoying uninterrupted electricity supply through these VIP grid stations. “They will work on war footing to enhance power generation when they will face 14 to 18 hours of power outages in a day,” the statement added.

The LCCI regretted that the government has failed to show any seriousness in tackling the energy crisis, which has forced people to take to the streets during Ramazan, in order to draw the attention of the President, the Prime Minister and the ministers towards the situation.
