KP to launch power projects after getting royalty: Afrasiab

Holding the former governments responsible for the prevailing energy crisis, the Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Senator Afrasiab Khattak said on Sunday that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would launch three mega power projects after getting its share of the net hydel profit.

“Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti will inaugurate the projects to overcome the electricity needs in the province,” he told a party meeting at the chief minister’s annexe.He said that after acquiring provincial autonomy, a new era of development had started in the province and people would begin benefiting from it soon.

The meeting discussed organisational issues of the party, the local government elections and the situation in the tribal areas.Afrasiab Khattak said the party made every effort to stabilise democracy, supremacy of the parliament and strengthening institutions in the country.

He urged the party leaders to launch mass contact movement and inform the public about the achievements of the party.The meeting formed a committee under provincial Senior Vice President Baz Mohammad Khan to give recommendations about upcoming local government elections.

The meeting also decided to hold meetings of the district councils in all the districts of the province from May 15 to 31.Party leaders, provincial ministers and members of the party cabinet will attend these meetings.

The meeting stressed the need for local government elections in the tribal areas on the pattern of settled areas so that development schemes could be carried out in the tribal region through local government representatives.
